A clinical victory for the defending champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) over the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by 6 wickets.
Like in 2023, they started their way from where they finished.
In the very first match of this season, Bengaluru skipper Faf du Plessis after winning the toss opted to bat first.
The skipper charged the way as du Plessis (35 runs) dominated in the first wicket partnership of 41 runs. Virat Kohli (21 runs) on the other hand opted the defensive approach. But at one time the team struggled little but as theory lost 5 wickets in just 78 runs.
But then for the 6th wicket Anuj Rawat (48 runs) and Dinesh Karthik (38 runs not out) put 95 runs together and took out the team from a below par score. At the end the team finally managed 173 runs in 20 overs by losing 6 wickets.
Mustafizur Rahman struggled the batsmen too much with his slower deliveries and grabbed 4 wickets. Deepak Chahar got 1 wicket.
Now during the chase, Chennai opener Rachin Ravindra (37 runs) playing his first match in the IPL opted the destructive approach and played just 15 balls to reach there. He hit 3 fours and 3 sixes in his innings.
Then Ajinkya Rahane (27 runs) and Daryl Mitchell (22 runs) contributed well in the middle order. But it was Shivam Dube (34 runs not out) and Ravindra Jadeja (27 runs not out) who took the team to the victory.
They chased down the target in just 18.4 overs and scored 174 runs by losing 4 wickets.
Cameron Green got 2 wickets while Yash Dayal and Karn Sharma got 1 wicket each.
