Close victory led Bangladesh to the Semis

Bangladesh won the close encounter with Malaysia in the Quarter Final of the Asian Games. Bengal Tigers won the match by 2 runs and made their way to the Semi Final. 

Bangladesh scored 116/5 in 20 overs and in reply Malaysia put 114/8 in 20 overs on the board. 

They became the 4th and the last man to make their place into the Semis. Earlier India, Pakistan and Afghanistan forwarded their paths to the Semi Finals. 

After winning the toss, Bangladesh opted to bat first. 

Their openers Parvez Hossain Emon and Mahmudul Hasan Joy departed without scoring any runs. At one point they lost 4 wickets in just 41 runs. Then their skipper Saif Hassan (50 runs) played a superb knock due to which they were able to post a fighting score. Hassan hit 3 sixes and a four in his innings. 

In the lower order, Shahadat Hossain (21 runs) and Jaker Ali (14 runs) helped their captain to reach 116 runs in 20 overs. They lost 5 wickets. 

Pavandeep Singh bowled a brilliant spell where he took 2 wickets and gave only 12 runs in his 4 overs and also got a maiden over. Vijay Unni and Anwar Rahman got 1 wicket each.  

Malaysian batters were also struggling and lost 4 wickets in just 38 runs. Then Virandeep Singh (52 runs) took the match in the last over. With his destructive innings the team looks to an easy victory over the Bengal Tigers but unfortunately he got out in the last over which drowned their hopes of winning the match. He took 39 balls to reach there and hit 3 fours and 4 sixes in his knock.   

Vijay Unni (14 runs) and Ainool Hafizs (14 runs) also helped Virandeep in the end but they remained short by 2 runs and managed 114 runs in 20 overs by losing 8 wickets. 
Afif Hossain who clinched the win from the Malaysia mouth as he defended 5 runs in the final over and took his team to the Semis. He grabbed 3 wickets with an impressive spell of 11 runs in 4 overs. Ripon Mondol also gets 3 wickets. Rakibul Hassan and Rishad Hossain got 1 wicket each.
