Teams Analysis

Canada (CAN):

Though they got a defeat from the USA, they got some positives in that match. Their batting unit was looking much balanced as they got some healthy runs but their bowling was looking a little weak especially in the death overs.

Skipper Saad Bin Zafar, has been a prominent spinner from the side. He has taken 43 wickets in 39 matches with an impressive economy of 6.56. But in the first match he was expensive in his spell as he spent 42 runs in his 4 overs. He needs to be a little more consistent with his line and length especially in the middle overs.

Openers Aaron Johnson and Navneet Dhaliwal performed decently in the first match. Dhaliwal especially got some healthy runs with the bat as he scored most runs for the team after contributing 61 runs with the bat. Johnson has managed 23 runs but his international strike rate is 165.77 and is known for destruction from the start of the innings.

Nicholas Kirton who earlier played for the under-19 West Indies team has used his experience in the first match and scored a brilliant 51 runs in just 31 balls. He has a strike rate of 164.52 and this was also his maiden international T20 match. Keeper Shreyas Movva showed his destruction towards the end of the innings and scored 32 runs in 16 balls, due to his brilliant effort with the bat, the team got close to 200 runs.

Dillon Heyliger bowled brilliantly in the first match as he conceded only 19 runs in his 3 overs and also got a wicket in his spell. He was the only bowler in the team who conceded less runs in that match. Opening bowlers Kaleem Sana and Jeremy Gordon were unable to get a decent spell with the bowl in the first match. Sana conceded 34 runs in 4 overs whereas Gordon conceded 44 runs in 3 overs.

Ireland (IRE):

A devastating loss in their first match from the hands of India and from this they need to make a great comeback so that they can manage to go to the next round easily. They have a huge experience in comparison to Canada which might help them to win the match against them.

Skipper Paul Stirling is the most experienced player in the squad and has played many ICC tournaments for the team. But in the first match he looked little discomfort from the start of the innings against the pacers and was unable to get through the line properly, due to which he managed only 2 runs in that match. In his career he got 3591 runs with the bat and that shows how dangerous he can be if he settles down easily.

Andrew Balbirnie, the other opener who also carries huge experience in this department failed to get some healthy runs with the bat in the first match and contributed just 5 runs in 10 balls. In international career he got 2375 runs with a strike rate of 123.76. Lorcan Tucker and Harry Tector both showed disappointment in the match against India as Tucker scored 10 runs in 13 balls and Tector got 4 runs in 16 balls. Both have decent stats in T20 matches and that they need to get for it in the next match.

George Dockrell who is one of the best all-rounders of the team failed to get some healthy runs with the bat as he only managed 3 runs. He didn’t get a chance to bowl in the 2nd innings. The other experienced all-rounder Gareth Delany, scored the most runs for the team in the first match after scoring 26 runs in 14 balls. He has a strike rate of 134.28 in T20 internationals and has got 44 wickets till now.

Mark Adair bowled brilliantly in the first match after dismissing Virat Kohli early on, In his 4 overs spell he got one wicket and conceded only 27 runs. Their another opening bowler, Josh Little conceded many runs in his spell as he gave away 42 runs in his 4 overs.

Pitch Report for the match between Canada (CAN) and Ireland (IRE):

The match will be played at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York. In both the matches the team batting 2nd won the match. The team who got to bat first struggled to score runs easily as the bowlers got a good amount of swing as well as bounce. While the spinners also got decent turn from the pitch. Therefore again the chasing team might get an upper hand in this match.
