Canada registered their first victory of this season after defeating Ireland by 12 runs.
Both the teams got defeated in their last encounter. Canada got a rampage defeat from the hands of USA while Ireland lost against India in a one sided domination.
Ireland, after winning the toss, chooses to bowl first.
Canada scored 137/7 in 20 overs and in reply Ireland posted 125/7 in 20 overs.
This time the Canadian top order failed to get a good score with the bat as they lost 4 wickets in just 53 runs. Then a solid partnership of 75 runs was generated between Nicholas Kirton and Shreyas Movva. Kirton scored 49 runs in 35 balls and hit 3 fours and 2 sixes. While Movva got a little slow as he scored 37 runs in 36 balls and hit 3 boundaries.
Due to the contributions of these two, the team got close to 140.
Craig Young and Barry McCarthy got 2 wickets each while Mark Adair and Gareth Delany got 1 wicket each.
In the chase, the Irish team also struggled at the start as they lost 6 wickets in just 59 runs. They were totally on the backfoot but then Mark Adair and Geroge Dockrell pulled up the things for the team. Adair scored 34 runs in 24 balls while Dockrell scored 30 runs in 23 balls.
Both of them got a partnership of 62 runs for the 7th wicket. Unfortunately they didn’t get par the targeted score at the end.
Jeremy Gordon and Dillon Heyliger bowled brilliantly in their respective spells. Gordon got 2 wickets in his 4 overs by conceding only 16 runs while Heyliger also got 2 wickets in his 4 overs after conceding 18 runs only. Junaid Siddiqui and Saad Bin Zafar got 1 wicket each.
