Boult says that World Cup selection was not guaranteed

New Zealand left arm pacer, Trent Boult said that his World Cup selection was neither guaranteed nor he was expecting.

Recently New Zealand Cricket announced the 15 member squad for the World Cup, in which Boult was included. Last year in August 2022 he was released from the central contract as he wanted to spend more time with his young family and also tired from the international tour for the matches.

Related to his selection, Trent Boult said

“Selection to the World Cup was never guaranteed and I was never expecting it to be. I had to work for it and I am very happy to be here. I just hope I can add value and take the tournament very deep, Like we have in the last couple of attempts. I really feel like we can really push this tournament to the final stages and give it a good crack.”

His step of withdrawn from the central contract he added,

“The decision was solely made around time away. With a young family, I couldn’t travel as much. It just became too hard. I prioritized time with them and gave myself a chance to play some cricket around the world, to see what I could learn.”

The final decision for the squad will be changed till 28th September after that the squad will be locked for the World Cup.
