Teams Analysis

Australia (AUS):

The 2021 champion will play their first match of 2024 ICC T20 World Cup. They are having a dominant team and have excellence in both the departments. This team already won the last two ICC tournaments (2023 ODI World Cup and 2023 ICC Test Championship). Now they will definitely try to make it a hattrick after winning this tournament.

This time the team will be seen under a new leader as Mitchell Marsh will lead the side. He is one of the greatest all-rounders the team has and is well known for his power hitting. He has scored 1432 runs in 52 innings with a strike rate of 135.34. He scored 9 half-centuries till now. With the bowl he has 17 wickets to his name and might be useful as an extra pacer for the team.

If any of the bowlers need to get some fear from any better than it must be Travis Head, who is well known for his destructive batting. Although he just has one half-century to his name in international T20 matches, he can accelerate anytime as he showed in the recent IPL. He has a strike rate of 147.08. On the other hand, David Warner will play his last international tournament as he will retire from the international circuit after the tournament. He carries a huge experience in this format. He scored 3099 runs and hit one century and 26 half-centuries and has a strike rate of 142.67.

Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell will be the team’s main all-rounders for the team. But Maxwell’s current form must be a little to worry about as he was unable to get some runs on the board and throughout the season of IPL, he struggled to get runs. But he got some little advantage in his bowling as he got some wickets during the powerplay. On the other hand, Green didn’t play much T20 international matches but has much league experience which will give him confidence.

Marcus Stoinis and Tim David will be the finishers of the team. Stoinis gives team helpful contributions in both the departments. He has a strike rate of 145.06 and has taken 29 wickets to his name. He also got 2 half-centuries till now. Tim is not less than a beast in the death overs as his strike rate surges to 163.63 and his valuable contribution helped the team towards the end.

Josh Inglis will be the keeper of the team. He scored 470 runs with a strike rate of 152.10. Pat Cummins is known for his calmful nature on the ground. He can get away from the batters with his presence of mind and has 57 wickets to his name. He already took the team to two ICC trophies and will make his contribution here also.

Mitchell Starc will also show his experience in the pace department and is well known for his dangerous spell in the powerplay. He has taken 74 wickets to his name. Adam Zampa and Ashton Agar will take the role of spin department. Zampa might be even more dangerous in the Caribbean conditions.

Probable Playing 11 of Australia (AUS):

Mitchell Marsh ©, Travis Head, David Warner, Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green, Marcus Stoinis, Josh Inglis (wk), Glenn Maxwell, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa.

Oman (OMN):

They showed a great comeback in the first match against Namibia as they took it to the Super Over but unfortunately the Super Over didn’t go to their side. In that match their bowling was much more commendable than their batting.

Skipper Aqib IIyas though got out on a golden duck but compensated with his bowling as he took 1 wicket in his 4 overs by giving away only 17 runs. He is a brilliant all-rounder from the team and needs to make it count against the former world champion.

Openers Kashyap Prajapati and Naseem Khushi departed too early in the first match. Naseem has a brilliant strike rate of 161.12 and he needs this confidence in the match against Aussies.

Zeeshan Maqsood, one of the experienced players in the squad and is one of the best all-rounders from the team, didn’t get many runs with the bat nor did he get any wicket in his spell. He scored 22 runs in 20 balls and gave 12 runs in his 2 overs. Khalid Kail topped the scoring chart from the team in the first match with 34 runs, but he took 39 balls to reach there. He needs to be a little more aggressive with his gameplay.

It was Mehran Khan’s bowling that took them to the Super Over. He bowled superbly well in the death overs and took 3 wickets in his 3 overs by giving away only 7 runs. He got one maiden over also in his spell. Again this kind of performance is needed from him so that the team gets better results. Bilal Ahmed showed his experience of bowling very well and managed some tight overs in his spell.

Probable Playing 11 of Oman (OMN):

Aqib IIyas ©, Kashyap Prajapati, Naseem Khushi (wk), Zeeshan Maqsood, Khalid Kail, Ayaan Khan, Mohammad Nadeem, Mehran Khan, Shakeel Ahmed, Kaleemullah and Bilal Ahmed.

Pitch Report for the match between Australia (AUS) and Oman (OMN):

The match will be played at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados. Oman has already played here so it will be quite a little advantage for them to play but the Aussies team carries huge experience and can demolish them easily. Despite this, the pitch is much favourable under lights and pacers will get a good amount of swing throughout the match. It might get a little slow as the match progresses, therefore batting first might be a better choice here after winning the toss.

Weather Report:

The weather will be partly cloudy with little chance of rain but as the forecast says it will not stay much longer, therefore a full match can be easily witnessed. Humidity will be high as it will be above 70%. The higher temperature will go up by 31o and the lowest might be recorded as 27o.

Best 11 for the match between Australia (AUS) and Oman (OMN):

Josh Inglis, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Travis Head (c), Glenn Maxwell, Zeeshan Maqsood, Aqib IIyas, Mitchell Starc (vc), Pat Cummins, Mehran Khan, Adam Zampa.
