Australia starts slowly & ends at a light speed on day 2.

On the 2nd day, at the 1st and 2nd session Australia played too slowly but during the ending overs they put in last gear and started scoring fast. They made 295/10 at the end of the day and got a lead of 12 runs. It also seems that Australia wanted to win the Ashes by 2-1 and they wanted to draw the 5th Test.

Aussies were 61/1 on Day 1 and they continued on 2nd day and scored with a run rate of just above 2. Then finally Wood gets the breakthrough by dismissing Marnus Labuschagne. Marnus made 9 runs for which he took 82 deliveries. It might be a big belief for England. (91-2). Then Broad breaks the patience of Usman Khawaja. He made 47 runs in 157 balls. It was Broad’s 150th Ashes wicket. (115-3).

Then the inform batsman Travis Head departed by making only 4 runs with his bat. Broad gets the credit. (127-4). After that Anderson gets the wicket of Marsh. Marsh scored 16 runs. (151-5). Root didn’t contribute much with his bat but his part time bowling benefits England most of the time. This time he got the Australian keeper Alex Carey. Stokes took the catch and it was his 100th Test catch. Carey made only 10 runs. (170-6).

Starc was the next man dismissed. Wood rocket fire pace did the work. Starc made only 7 runs. (185-7). Woakes then dismissed the highest scorer from the Australian side in 1st innings, Steve Smith. Smith made a solid 71 runs. He along with Cummins put 54 runs together for the 8th wicket. (239-8). Then comes the rocket fire innings of Todd Murphy. Due to his special and valuable contribution Australia were able to get the lead. Murphy scored 34 runs in 39 balls, also including 2 fours and 3 sixes. Woakes dismisses him. (288-9).

The last player was skipper Cummins. He made a valuable knock of 36 runs and his partnerships with Smith (54) and Murphy (49) got his team some upper hand at the end. Root again strikes with his spin and gets his wicket. (295-10).

Chris Woakes grabbed 3 wickets. Broad, Wood and Root get 2 wickets each while Anderson settles with 1 wicket.
