After winning the toss, England skipper Jos Butler opted to bowl first.

Aussies lost both of their openers in just 38 runs. Then a 75 runs partnership was built between Steve Smith (44 runs) and Marnus Labuschagne (71 runs). Labuschagne looked confident in his knock and played 83 balls in which he hit 7 boundaries. Cameron Green (47 runs) also contributed well in the middle overs.

In the end, Adam Zampa (29 runs) took his team to a respectable total of 286 runs in 49.3 overs by losing all their wickets.

During the chase, England lost two early wickets in just 19 runs. After that a solid partnership of 84 runs built between Dawid Malan (50 runs) and Ben Stokes (64 runs). Both of them took their team to a comfortable position but then the wickets started falling one after the other.

Moeen Ali (42 runs)  played some good shots in between. Chris Woakes (32 runs) also tried to pull up the things but due to the increase in the required run rate they also got off and in the end they managed 253 runs in 48.1 overs by losing all the wickets.

Adam Zampa again showed a great bowling performance as he took 3 wickets and gave just 21 runs in his 10 overs. Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazelwood and Pat Cummins got 2 wickets each. Marcus Stoinis got 1 wicket.
