Another Venue change in demand for the 2023 World Cup

This time World Cup venues were one of the main headaches for the BCCI and ICC. Now one more venue whose match might be shifted is Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad.

According to the reports of The Indian Express it says that Hyderabad will represent back to back two matches i.e. on 9th and 10th. On 9th the match will be played between New Zealand and Netherland while on 10th the match will be played between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Therefore local police of Hyderabad conveyed their message to Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) that they couldn’t provide full security back to back especially on the Pakistan-Sri Lanka match. As it requires approx 3000 police men to control the crowd on match day (9th October), so to provide full security to the teams in the hotel on 9th October will not be possible easily.

HCA forwarded this message to BCCI and now it will be on BCCI hands on what they should do.

Earlier the match between India and Pakistan was shifted from 15th October to 14th October due to Navratri Festival which was being celebrated vastly in Ahmedabad. This is why the match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka was shifted from 12th October to 10th October as Pakistan will get ample time to practice for 14th October.

Also during the Kali Puja, the match between Pakistan and England which previously happened to be on 12th November changes to 11th November due to the celebration of Kali Puja on that day.

Total of 9 matches were rescheduled and now the match in Hyderabad might also be changed due to the security issues.
