Afghanistan secures historic spot in Super 8

Afghanistan registered a clean win against PNG by 7 wickets and with this win they proceeded to the next round. With this New Zealand is out of the Super 8.  

Afghanistan in their last match, got an easy victory over New Zealand whereas Uganda shocked PNG to register their first ICC T20 World Cup win. 

PNG scored 95/10 in 19.5 overs and Afghanistan in reply chased down the target in 15.1 overs and 101/3 scored. 

Once again a pathetic batting performance shown by the African players. Kiplin Doriga scored the highest runs for the team after scoring 27 runs but for this he took 32 balls to reach there. He hit 2 fours in his innings. 

Two more batters touched the double digit mark, Tony Ura (11 runs) and Alei Nao (13 runs). No big partnerships were created and at last the whole team got submitted before the 100 mark on the board. 

Fazalhaq Farooqi once again showed his consistency with the bowl and grabbed 3 wickets in his 4 overs spell after conceding only 16 runs. Naveen-ul-Haq got 2 wickets while Noor Ahmed got 1 wicket. 

In the chase, both openers departed early at 22 runs on the board. Gulbadin Naib topped the chart for the team as he scored unbeaten 49 runs in 36 balls. He hit 4 fours and 2 sixes in his knock. 

Azmatullah Omarzai (13 runs) and Mohammad Nabi (16 runs not out) supported Naib from the other end and got par the target score quite easily. 

Alei Nao, Semo Kamea and Norman Vanua got 1 wicket each.
