Afghanistan crumbles under Pooran’s onslaught

A brilliant knock from Nicholas Pooran helped West Indies to get a solid score and then the bowlers choked the Afghan batters and registered a big 104 runs victory. 

West Indies scored 218/5 in 20 overs and in reply Afghanistan managed 114/10 in 16.2 overs. 

Both teams registered victories in their respective teams. Afghan got a rampage victory against Uganda whereas Carribean players registered a close win against the Kiwis.  

Rashid Khan, after winning the toss, opted to bowl first. 

Nicholas Pooran turned things for the first time in this tournament as he missed his century just by 2 runs and scored 98 runs. He played 56 balls and hit 6 fours and 8 sixes in his knock. 

Earlier Johnson Charles gave the team a solid start and scored 43 runs in 27 balls. He helped Pooran from the other end as they both added 80 runs for the 2nd wicket. 

Gulbadin Naib got 2 wickets while Azmatullah Omarzai and Naveen-ul-Haq got 1 wicket each. 

In the chase, Afghan batters weren’t able to continue their show with the bat. Their in form batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz out on a duck. Ibrahim Zadran scored the most runs for the team after he contributed 38 runs with the bat.

No big and solid partnerships were created due to which they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. At last they were not able to play the full overs and got all-out.   

Obed McCoy got 3 wickets while Akeal Hosein and Gudakesh Motie got 2 wickets each. Andre Russell and Alzarri Joseph got 1 wicket each.
