As the Champions Trophy is nearly just a month to go, tensions take the charge after Jasprit Bumrah is given full bed rest.
India is yet to reveal their squad for the upcoming ICC tournament and the injury of the Indian pacer puts them on backboot. He got back spasm during the final test of the Border-Gavaskar trophy due to which he was unable to bowl in the 2nd innings of the match.
Later on, it got more severe when it was known that Bumrah might most probably miss the group stage matches. The team in Group A alongwith Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand. Their first match will be against Bangladesh on February 20th.
According to the latest report in the Times of India, it was said the pacer is advised for full bed rest before going to the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru which is most expectedly to be in the next week. The final date is not yet disclosed.
“Bumrah could go to the CoE next week but right now there is no fixed date yet. He has been advised bed rest at home to help the muscles recover and the swelling to subside. Once that is done, future courses of action will be ascertained.” source said to TOI.
The source also added that the swelling of the pacer is not known when it will be okay or how much time it will take to get some relief, “Bed rest doesn’t sound good. I hope it’s not a disc bulge or a muscle swelling which is of a higher grade. The approach has to be similar to him – wrap him in cotton wool and preserve the talent like him.”
He is currently the main pacer of the team and his absence might affect the Men in Blue in the tournament. He was recently awarded with the Men’s Player of the Month from ICC. Due to his brilliant form in the red ball cricket he got the Player of the series in which he took 32 wickets against Aussies, despite losing the series 3-1.
