South Africa announced the 2025 Champions Trophy squad

Now South Africa revealed their 15 members squad for the 2025 Champions Trophy. The team will be led by Temba Bavuma.

The most satisfying moment for the team will be the return of their two main pacers – Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi. Both the pacers struggled a lot with injuries in previous year due to which they had to miss many white ball matches. Ngidi has marked his presence in the SA20 whereas Nortje is yet to make a comeback, but is highly expected to return before the ICC event starts.

One of their main pacers, Gerald Coetzee, was unable to put his name into the list of 15 due to injury. He also contributed with the bat in the death overs and added helpful runs for the team sometimes.

Wiaan Mulder, Ryle Rickelton and Tony de Zorzi will play their first ever ICC tournament. Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi will be the team’s frontline spinners.

Their white ball head coach, Rob Walter, said, “We’ve managed to maintain the core group of our 2023 World Cup squad, whilst adding fresh talent. Our recent performances at ICC events show that we’re capable of reaching the latter stages of global tournaments. We’re eager to take the next step and go even further in pursuit of the coveted silverware. This squad boasts a wealth of experience, with many players having consistently performed in high pressure situations. That kind of experience is invaluable in a tournament like this.”

They are in Group B along with Australia, England and Afghanistan.
