NOC trouble for Pakistan’s senior players

Some of the senior Pakistan players are unlikely to get the NOC from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the upcoming Global T20 Canada.

In the list of senior players are Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Rizwan. These players might not travel to Canada for the T20 league. This league will end before the national team plays against Bangladesh. The league will start from July 25 to August 11 and the two test match series against Bangladesh will start from August 21.

Naseem Shah already didn’t get the NOC due to fitness related problems as he got injured recently during the 2023 ODI World Cup. The management wants him for upcoming matches of the team.

The exact reason for NOC denial is not unknown but some reports suggested that the national team has a busy schedule after the T20 league and if any senior players will get injured, then it will be a setback to the team and the Champions Trophy is nearby, so the management also wanted that the players must remain fit till then.

Some other players are in contract with different franchises of this league who are Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Amir, Asif Ali and Iftikhar Ahmed. These players are still not sure whether they will get the NOC or not.

In the series against Bangladesh where the red ball coach of the team, Jason Gillespie, revealed that Shaheen Afridi might not play in that series as he is expecting his first child at that time.
