Australia marched towards their next round qualification whereas defending champion England is on the verge of exit from the pool stage. Aussies got the victory by 36 runs.
Australia in their first encounter got a victory but for that they had to sweat it out alot against the lower team Oman, while England first encounter was washed off due to rain against Scotland.
England, after winning the toss, opted to bowl first.
Australia scored 201/7 in 20 overs and England in reply got in overs.
Aussies opener David Warner and Travis Head gave their team a destructive start as both of them scored 70 runs in just 5 overs. Warner scored 39 runs in 16 balls whereas Head got 34 runs in 18 balls. Then Skipper Mitchell Marsh showed some hands in the middle after scoring 35 runs in 25 balls.
Then Marcus Stoinis towards the end showed his muscle power and scored super fast 30 runs in 17 balls in which 2 fours and 2 sixes were included.
Chris Jordan got 2 wickets while Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid and Liam Livingstone got 1 wicket each.
In the chase, England got a great start as they posted 73 runs for the first wickets in 7.1 overs. Jos Butler (42 runs) and Phil Salt (37 runs) make the most of it in the powerplay. At this point, the team looked like they would chase down the target quite easily.
After that, they were on the backfoot and lost wickets at regular intervals. Moeen Ali tried a little hard in the middle after scoring 25 runs in 15 balls. But unfortunately they didn’t get the targeted score.
Pat Cummins bowled brilliantly after grabbing 2 wickets in his 4 overs by giving away only 23 runs. Adam Zampa also got 2 wickets to his name. Josh Hazlewood and Marcus Stoinis got 1 wicket each.
