One of the greatest all-rounders and match winner, Zimbabwean Sikandar Raza chooses IPL (Indian Premier League) over PSL (Pakistan Super League) on the basis of popularity.
Raza played for Punjab Kings in IPL and for Lahore Qalandars in PSL. He performed well in both the franchise leagues and got victory for his team in some close matches. He is a great finisher and can contribute with his spin bowling also.
During a recent interview with Sports Now, he said that the Indian league is the most crowded one and the only league which can come close to in terms of crowd is the Pakistan League. He also added that in the Indian Premier League, all the players were there to play and makes it more interesting and happening and it is enjoyed globally. He said,
“I just think that the availability of all the players for one tournament makes IPL really special. In most of the matches we play, the crowd comes and supports their teams. That’s something that’s really different in the Indian League. The only other league when it comes to crowds that comes close to IPL is PSL. So, I think IPL definitely stands out with a couple of factors. TATA League is by far the best league when it comes to PSL also. Like, it is much better than Pakistan League. That’s what I'm trying to say. Yeah, I’m not a big fan of comparisons. But yes, it is. I think the IPL is the biggest league on the planet.”
Since he plays for Punjab Kings in the Indian League, where he won a critical match in the last ball against CSK. He has some fond memories with this franchise, he said,
“IPL is such a big and global event that I am very grateful and blessed that Punjab picked me. And I don't think I can ever repay their faith. I mean, they were the only team that raised the baton on the auction day. So, if they hadn’t done that, I don't think I would have been part of this league last year, let alone this year.”
