South Africa’s dominating performance in both the departments helped to register their 4th victory in the tournament. They defeated Bangladesh by 149 runs.
Proteas scored 382/5 in 50 overs and in reply Bengal Tigers posted 233/10 in 46.4 overs.
After winning the toss South Africa opted to bat first.
Quinton de Kock (174 runs) hit his 3rd century of the World Cup. He missed his double century by some inches but despite this he played 140 balls and hit 15 fours and 7 sixes. He was scoring just all over the ground and used his experience in playing for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Temba Bavuma again remained unavailable and Aiden Markram took over the captaincy.
Markram (60 runs) helped de Kock for the 3rd wicket partnership of 131 runs. Heinrich Klassen (90 runs) missed his back to back century. He showed his destruction in the death overs and took 49 balls to reach there. In his knock he hit 2 fours and 8 sixes. These heavy knocks took Proteas to 382 runs in 50 overs by losing 5 wickets.
Hasan Mahumud got 2 wickets with an economy of 11.20. Shakib Al Hasan, Shoriful Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz got 1 wicket each.
During the chase, only Mahmudullah (111 runs) was the only player from the team who played well against the Proteas bowlers. None of the other batters in the starting put great partnerships with him. He played 111 balls and hit 11 boundaries and 4 sixes.
Some lower order batters helped him to complete his century. Nasum Ahmed (19 runs), Hasan Ahmed (15 runs) and Mustafizur Rahman (11 runs) made useful runs and took the team total to 233 runs in 46.4 overs by losing 10 wickets.
All the bowlers were brilliant and got wickets. Gerald Coetzee got 3 wickets. Marco Jansen, Kagiso Rabada and Lizaad Williams got 2 wickets each. Keshav Maharaj got 1 wicket.
