Bangladesh Women won the bronze medal by defeating Pakistan Women in the Asian Games. They won the match by 5 wickets.
PAK only managed 64/9 in 20 overs which BAN easily chased down in 18.5 overs and scored 65/5.
Earlier Bangladesh lost the match against India by 8 wickets in the Semi Final. On other hand Pakistan lost their match against Sri Lanka by 6 wickets in the Semi Final.
After winning the toss, the BAN captain invited PAK to bat.
Pakistan batters were unable to put on a strong show against the bowlers. Their wickets fell at regular intervals. Aliya Riaz (17 runs) was the highest scorer from the side. She hit 2 boundaries in her innings. Skipper Nida Dar (14 runs), the most trusted and experienced batter from the side also out cheaply. It was expected that she might put some runs on the board but it failed.
None of the batters were having a strike rate above 100. Two more batters Sadaf Shamas (13 runs) and Natalia Pervaiz (11 runs) were seen in double digit marks but unfortunately these two also cannot convert their innings into a big one. Therefore in the end they scored 64 runs in 20 overs by losing 9 wickets.
Bangladesh bowlers bowled brilliantly. Shorna Akter grabbed 3 wickets and spent only 16 runs in her 4 overs spell. Sanjida Akter Meghla took 2 wickets. Marufa Akter, Nahida Akter and Rabeya Khan got 1 wicket each.
BAN were looking comfortable with the bat as the target was not too high. They were batting quite easily without any hurry. Shorna Akter (14 runs) was the highest scorer from the side. Shamima Sultana (13 runs) and Shathi Rani (13 runs) were the other two batters who crossed the double digit mark. With comfortable batting they chased the target in 18.2 overs and scored 65 runs by losing 5 wickets.
Since the target was too low, but still the PAK bowlers showed a great fight against the batters. Nashra Sandhu grabbed 3 wickets in his 4 overs spell and gave only 10 runs and also took a maiden over. Sadia Iqbal and Nida Dar settled with 1 wicket.
