Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) registered an easy win over Jamaica Tallawahs (JT) by 7 wickets. Pooran and Guptill made it more comfortable by their half centuries.
Knight Riders is looking pure dominant in this CPL and they also won their last match against BR with the help of Pooran’s monstrous knock by 42 runs. Jamaica lost their last match which was also against TKR but it was a close contest as Trinibago won the match by just 2 runs.
Jamaica scored 154/8 in 20 overs which Knight Riders chased down in 17.2 overs and scored 155/3.
Knight Riders Captain Pollard won the toss and he opted to bowl first.
Tallawahs was hard to manage a big partnership as they started losing wickets at regular intervals which ultimately cost them the match. Only Imad Wasim (62 runs) showed good shots against a fierce bowling attack. In his innings he hit 6 fours and 3 sixes. Jermaine Blackwood (29 runs) tried to get some solid runs but he was batting too slow and he took 35 balls to get there.
With Wasim’s knock they were able to get 154 runs in 20 overs by losing 8 wickets.
Ali Khan led the chart with 3 wickets while Sunil Narine took 2 wickets. Akeal Hosein and Jaden Carmicheal took 1 wicket each.
Trinbago showed some testing as they used Sunil Narine (15 runs) in the opening. After that Martin Guptill (53 runs) and Nicholas Pooran (54 runs) put 80 runs for the 2nd wicket. Pooran carries his extreme form in his back to back matches. He hit 6 fours and two sixes in his innings while Guptill hit 5 fours and a six in his knock.
In the end Andre Russell (22 runs) also showed some hands and hit three sixes in Imad Wasim’s over. Then Knight Riders chased down the target easily in 17.2 overs and scored 155 runs by losing 3 wickets.

With this victory Trinbago climbed to the top of the points table with 11 points in 8 matches Tallawahs remained at 5th place with 5 points in 7 matches.

“The way we started, the spinner bowled in the powerplay, the hardest overs and they set the tone. As much as I enjoyed it, it’s tough (on opening). You have to go out there, enjoy and try to contribute to the team. It had less dew bowling first. The score we restricted them to was great. I want to commend the bowlers.
Batman went out and did a good job. The crowd – you can’t ask anything more. Hopefully they continue doing it, we have one game. Hopefully we can leave Trinidad on a high.”
