Wanindu Hasaranga retired at a very early age

Sri Lankan all rounder, Wanindu Hasaranga retired from Test Cricket at a very early age of 26. 

Hasaranga who made his debut in Test on 26th December 2020 against South Africa played four Test matches in his international career. He last played a Test match on 21st April 2021 against Bangladesh. 

He will continue playing the ODI and the T20. 

He is one of the key players in the Sri Lanka squad. Given various match winning performances to his team. Not only in international matches but also he is very well known as a specialist bowling all rounder in the T20 leagues around the globe. 

Ashley De Silva, CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket, says, “We will accept his decision and are confident that Hasaranga will be a vital part of our white-ball program going forward.” 

Sri Lanka will be playing in the Asia Cup at the end of this month and they qualified from the qualifiers to play the World Cup starting in October.
