The World Cup match between Pakistan and England will be played on 12th November at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. According to a senior member of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) says that on 12th November, the 2nd most celebrated festival Kali Puja will be going on and Police will be required across the city to manage the crowd, therefore it will be hard to manage the match and festival on the same day.
Senior member of CAB also says that the Kolkata Police also tells the same thing that during the festival the crowd of Kolkata celebrates very intensely and there will be a requirement of a huge Police force to maintain the city under control. But the President of CAB, denies that they haven’t got any information for shifting the date of the match between Pakistan and England. When or if they got any related information then they definitely headed to BCCI or ICC.
The World Cup will start from 5th October in India and a lot of speculation is going on related to the matches. Recently the match between India and Pakistan which was previously held on 15th October, might be shifted to 14th October as the Navratri is the biggest festival in Gujarat and it starts on 15th October and requires a lot of police force to maintain the security. But still the officials have yet to announce the date shifting of the IND vs PAK match.
CAB president, Snehasish Ganguly,
“We have not yet got anything officially from the Kolkata Police. Unless we get something officially, we can’t inform the ICC. Security issue is being taken care of by the Kolkata Police. That is not our look out. As I said we have not got anything officially, if we get anything we will inform the ICC.
We went to Kolkata Police for a courtesy visit two days ago, we had a discussion with them. The schedule, plan and how we are preparing the stadium were discussed.”
Snehasish Ganguly is the elder brother of the former Indian captain and ex- BCCI President Sourav Ganguly.
