Due to some inconsistent performance during the past few test matches Cheteshwar Pujara was ruled out from Test of the India tour of West Indies in July, while excellent performance in IPL by Yashasvi Jaiswal was rewarded as a call for the Test match.
Umesh Yadav was also being axed from the team and Mohd Shami was given rest due to the upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup. Maharashtrian opener Ruturaj Gaikwad and Bengal speedstar Mukesh Kumar get their maiden call for Test matches. Navdeep Saini was included in the team after a span of almost 2 years. Last he played in 2021.
Ajinkya Rahane, his brilliant performance in the WTC final, got him selected once again and this time he will be the vice-captain of the team in the Test.
Sanju Samson was included in the team along with Suryakumar Yadav in the absence of Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant. KS Bharat was included in the Test squad and might be seen behind the wickets.
India will play 2 Test, 3 ODI and 5 T20 in the West Indies land. Schedule was already prepared during the second week of June where the last two T20 matches will be played in the USA.
