West Indies secured an epic spot in the Super 8

West Indies got a clean victory against New Zealand by 13 runs. With his victory they got to the next round of the tournament. 

West Indies scored 149/9 in 20 overs and in reply New Zealand scored 136/9 in 20 overs. 

Caribbean thrashed Uganda in their last encounter whereas the BlackCaps got a heavy defeat against Afghanistan in their last match. 

New Zealand, after winning the toss, chooses to bowl first. 

The Caribbean team at one point of time lost 5 wickets at just 30 runs. From there Sherfane Rutherford took the charge of destruction and scored a super quick 68 runs in just 39 balls. His strike rate was 174.36 and hit 2 fours and 6 sixes. 

He was the lone man warrior and played a solid knock due to which the team got to a decent score at the end. Andre Russell also showed some power in the end, scoring 14 runs in 7 balls. 

Trent Boult once again led the team in the bowling department and grabbed 3 wickets in his 4 overs. He conceded only 16 runs and took one maiden over also. Tim Southee and Lockie Ferguson got 2 wickets each. Jimmy Neesham and Mitchell Santner got 1 wicket each. 

In the chase, Kiwis struggled a lot from the start as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Glenn Phillips scored most runs for the team and scored 40 runs. Till the time he was there in the crease, somehow he kept hope for the win but after his departure the hopes vanished. 

Mitchell Santner towards the end also tried some hands with the bat after scoring unbeaten 21 runs in 12 balls and hit 3 sixes there. But the target was beyond his reach. 

Alzarri Joseph showed his brilliant performance with the bowl after grabbing 4 wickets in 4 overs by giving away only 19 runs. Gudakesh Motie got 3 wickets in his 4 overs by giving away 25 runs. Andre Russell and Akeal Hosein got 1 wicket each.
