Teams Analysis

South Africa (SA):

They topped Group D and were undefeated there. They won all 4 matches but all those matches got the results at the dead moments. From this it can be easily predicted that they were unable to show the dominating performance against the weak teams also.

Their main problem will be their batting as none of the batters has a strike rate over 100. All the batsmen struggled from the start and their top order has been consistent with the poor performance while the middle order is somewhat better from the top order.

David Miller is currently the leading run scorer for the team after managing 101 runs in 4 matches with a strike rate of 96.19. He is the only batter in the team who scored a half-century in this season and that came against Netherlands where he scored unbeaten 59 runs and took his team out from the blunder and got them the victory.

Openers Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks were unable to get solid runs on the board at the start. Hendricks scored 50 runs out of which 43 came against Nepal in the last match while de Kock is having even worse stats as he got just 48 runs. Skipper Aiden Markram struggled with the bat going on as he managed just 31 runs in 4 matches with a strike rate of 65.96.

Finishers Tristan Stubbs and Heinrich Klaasen failed to show their destruction with the bat. Stubbs has a strike rate of 82.95 and managed only 73 runs whereas Klaasen has a strike rate of 92.31 and managed 72 runs.

Bowling has been their strength in all the matches due to which they managed to get those 4 victories in a row. Leading them is Anrich Nortje who grabbed 9 wickets under his pocket with a brilliant economy of 4.38. His best came against Sri Lanka where he got 4 wickets by giving away only 7 runs in his 4 overs of spell.

Other pacers Ottneil Baartman and Kagiso Rabada got 5 and 4 wickets respectively. Ottneil has an economy of 4.19 while Rabada has an economy of 6. Spinners Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi got 5 and 4 wickets respectively. Maharaj’s economy is 6.08 whereas Shamsi just played one match and was against Nepal and got 4 wickets and conceded only 19 runs.

United States of America (USA):

The co-host of this T20 World Cup has shocked everyone with their brilliant performance in the group stage. They finished 2nd in Group A with 5 points. One of the highlighted performances there was against Pakistan, when they took the match to the Super Over and then defeated them quite easily there.

Their batting is their major strength in this season. Aaron Jones led the way for the team in the run scoring department as he got 141 runs in 3 innings and had a strike rate of 160.23. His best came against Canada where he just destroyed them with his unbeaten knock of 94 runs in just 40 balls. In that knock he hit 10 sixes and equalled the record of Chris Gayle for most sixes in a single match of a T20 World Cup

He was well supported by middle order batter Andries Gous who scored 102 runs in 3 matches. He has a strike rate of 132.47 and the best was against Canada where he scored 65 runs. Skipper Monank Patel provided a valuable knock of 50 runs against Pakistan, which proved to be important at the end. He missed the last match against India due to niggle but might make a comeback in this match.

Looking at their bowling unit, it is something going better with the time and now they looked brilliant with their spell. Saurabh Netravalkar is currently their leading wicket-taker with 4 wickets to his name and the economy being more eye-catching which is 5.2. Next came Ali Khan who has a lot of experience in the T20 leagues and took 3 wickets but the economy being little high which is 8.12.

Nosthusha Kenjige has taken 3 wickets till now with an economy of 7.5. His best came against Pakistan where he got 3 wickets and played only one match till now.

Probable Playing 11 of United States of America (USA):

Monank Patel (c & wk), Steven Taylor, Aaron Jones, Andries Gous, Nitish Kumar, Corey Anderson, Harmeet Singh, Jasdeep Singh, Saurabh Netravalkar, Ali Khan, Nosthusha Kenjige.

Pitch Report for the match between South Africa (SA) and United States of America (USA):

The match will be played at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua. 64m on one side and 54m hitting into the breeze, the straight boundary is 74m. It’s very hard. The bowlers have to target the 5-6m area to get purchase. It’s harder and the quicks will enjoy it. Chasing might be a bit easier here therefore the team might have opted for this after winning the toss.

Weather Report:

A full sunny day is expected, just some little clouds in the middle is possible as there is a 20% chance of rain. The humidity level as usual is expected to be on the higher side which will be above 70%.
