Unfortunate rain spoils India-Pakistan Asia Cup match

The much awaited India-Pakistan has been called off due to continuous raining. Though India batted their full and scored 266/10 in 48.5 overs while Pakistan wasn’t able to bat due to rain.

Both the teams receive one point each.

Pakistan already won their 1st match against Nepal and they are through to the next round and became the first team of the Asia Cup to go to the next round.

India after winning the toss opted to bat first and the same thing Babar Azam also wanted if he won the toss.

India struggled in the first 15 overs as they lost their key players in that span. Rohit Sharma (11 runs), Shubman Gill (10 runs), Virat Kohli (4 runs) and Shreyas Iyer (14 runs) all failed to get a good start. Rain also became a hindrance as it stopped the match 2 times in between.

Then Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya provided a valuable partnership of 138 runs for the 5th wicket and from this it somehow stabilized the Indian innings. It was also the highest 5th wicket partnership for the Indians against Pakistan.

Kishan and Pandya started pretty slow and once they got settled they targeted the bowlers, especially the spinners. Kishan made 82 runs in 81 balls and hit 9 fours and 2 sixes. Whereas Pandya scored 87 runs in 90 balls which also includes 7 fours and a six. In the end Jasprit Bumrah (16 runs) provided some valuable runs for the team and India scored 266 in 48.5 overs and lost all the wickets.

Pakistan fielding was very sloping due to which they conceded at least 15-20 runs more. But still their pace attack did a tremendous job to stop the Indian batting attack. Shaheen Afridi grabbed 4 wickets and he troubled a lot in his spell as he conceded only 35 runs in 10 overs. Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah both get 3 wickets each.

After that the rain starts, it stops a little bit but then suddenly it starts again and never stops due to which it has been called off and the 2nd innings didn’t get started.
