Two ICC officials Quit following T20 World Cup drama

The governing body of Cricket, ICC, in which recently two officials resigned after the T20 World Cup. The officials were Chris Tetley and Claire Furlong.

Tetley was the ICC’s Head of Events whereas Furlong was the General Manager of Marketing and Communication. The exact reason for their resignation is still unknown. But according to some reports of Cricbuzz, it suggests that both of them wanted to leave the organization in the last year after the commercial cycle ended but they stick to the organization so that the easy process for the 2024 T20 World Cup will go on.

Just a few days left for the ICC’s annual conference which will be going to take place in Colombo. But both of them left just after the shortest format of ICC event, according to the sources.

In that conference one of the main concerns will be the matches that were played in Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York, USA, where the matches ended in a low scoring. Both the officials were involved in close monitoring of those pitches. It was also said that few members from the governing council wanted to raise that matter into the meeting there.

Teams easily defend their target below 120 quite easily in that stadium. Very few fours and sixes were seen. Pitch was already providing uneven bounce due to which batters find it hard to score runs easily there. Some of the players got injured while playing there.

After the India-Pakistan match in that stadium, ICC recognised that the pitch was not up to the standards of international matches and marked as poor for cricket. Therefore just after the matches in that stadium were over, the whole stadium was dismantled.
