Usman Khawaja century on day 2 of 1st Test of the Ashes put Australia in great command. Australia scored 311/5 at the end of the day and just trailing by 82 runs.
Khawaja unbeaten on 126 runs which includes 14 boundaries and 2 sixes till now. Travis Head and Alex Carey also showcase their batting by scoring half centuries into their account. Travis Head made 50 runs with a great strike rate of 79.37. On the other hand Carey remained not out along with Khawaja at the end of the day and contributed 52 runs till now. Marcus Labuschagne was out on a golden duck.
Stuart Broad and Moeen Ali got 2 wickets each and Ben Stokes grabbed 1 wicket. Moeen Ali’s economy was little higher which was 4.30 in 29 overs.
After starting the day with their day 1 score, Warner couldn’t score much and got out by adding only 1 more run to his day 1 score. In the next delivery Labuschagne got out and Broad was in a hattrick but Smith prevented him. Smith got out by scoring only 16 runs. Green looked solid with his shots but Moeen took his bails off and got out at the score of 38 runs. Khawaja and Carey built a 91 runs partnership till now and just 9 runs away from the 100 run partnership.
Aussies just play the natural game of Test cricket. On the other side, England misses out on some stumping, some misjudged catches and gets a wicket on a no ball. Now on Day 3 it will be interesting to see that will Australia be able to overcome the English score or England manages to restrict them the par score.
