Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) maintained their destructive domination and now they claimed 2nd place in the points table after beating Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 4 wickets.
Kings scored 214/5 in 20 overs and Sunrisers chased down the target in 19.1 overs and scored 215/6. Now to maintain the 2nd place, they have to be in the hope that Rajasthan either loses the match or the match should be cancelled due to rain, then only they can play the Qualifier 1.
Before this match, when these two met in this season, Punjab just choked in the last minutes to shock Hyerabad in a close encounter.
Jitesh Sharma got the captaincy role for Punjab in this match and he won the toss and decided to bat first.
A destructive start was given by the openers of Punjab as Prabhsimran Singh and Atharva Taide posted 97 runs for the 1st wickets under 10 overs. Prabhsimran scored his best figures in this season and scored 71 runs in just 45 balls while Taide posted 46 runs in 27 balls.
Then Rilee Rossouw showed his hard hitting after scoring 49 runs in just 24 balls. And towards the end, skipper Jitesh scored unbeaten 32 runs in 15 balls and took his team to 200+ quite easily.
T Natarajan got 2 wickets while Pat Cummins and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth got 1 wicket each.
In the chase, despite Travis Head getting out on a duck, Abhishek Sharma continued his power hitting and with a strike rate of 235.71, he scored 66 runs in just 28 balls. He hit 5 fours and 6 sixes in his knock. Rahul Tripathi also joined him and played an aggressive knock of 33 runs in 18 balls.
Heinrich Klaasen scored 42 runs while Nitish Reddy contributed 37 runs in the end.
Arshdeep Singh and Harshal Patel both got 2 wickets each. Harpreet Brar and Shashank Singh got 1 wicket each.
