Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) got their upper hand against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the runs raining day. Hyderabad won the match by 25 runs.
Sunrisers broke their own record of highest score in the IPL which they created in this season against MI and now they got 287/3 in 20 overs and take the lead to much further. In reply Challengers took the challenge pretty but remained just short as they scored 262/7 in 20 overs.
Hyderabad in their last encounter just merely got the edge and won against PBKS by 2 runs whereas Bengaluru was humiliated against MI in their last match as Mumbai showed their full rampage mode.
After winning the toss, Bengaluru goes bowling.
The destruction started from the beginning as the openers posted 108 under 9 overs. Travis Head scored his maiden IPL century. He got 102 runs under his belt in 41 balls. He took 39 balls to reach the milestone and hit 9 boundaries and 8 sixes in his knock. Heinrich Klaasen again showed his power hitting as he got 67 runs in just 31 balls with the bat. In his knock he got 2 fours and 7 sixes.
Towards the end Aiden Markram and Abdul Samad touched the highest score in the IPL. Markram scored 32 runs in 17 balls whereas Samad scored 37 runs in 10 balls.
All the Royal bowlers were treated harshly by the Sunrisers batters. Economy of each bowler was above 10. Lockie Ferguson got 2 wickets while Reece Topley got 1 wicket.
In the chase, the target was huge so Bengaluru also started with destruction. They scored 80 runs in the powerplay. Virat Kohli scored 42 runs in 20 balls and hit 6 fours and 2 sixes. Faf du Plessis hit back to back half-century and scored 62 runs in just 28 balls. He showed his power and hit 7 fours and 4 sixes.
But Dinesh Karthik threw his full power and got 83 runs in just 35 balls where he hit 5 fours and 7 huge sixes. He also hit the longest six (108 m) in this season. Unfortunately due to the huge target they missed the spot of winning.
Also most sixes (38) were hit in this match and it was also the highest combined score (549 runs) in the history of IPL.
Here also the bowlers were treated brutally and each of them had at least 10 runs per over in their spell. Pat Cummins got 3 wickets, Mayank Markande got 2 wickets and T Natarajan got 1 wicket.
