Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya due to the injury he was not seen in the international matches since after the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Recently BCCI released the central contract in which Hardik managed to maintain his position in Grade A where he was last time. Whereas players like Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan were not able to fix their position in the central contract.
This created a much chaos among the public as despite performing well in the 2023 ODI World, Shreyas was not able to see in the list whereas Hardik who got injured during the same tournament and did not see in the ground since a long time and also not playing the red ball cricket from a very long time.
To this BCCI came out with a statement, why they retained Pandya in the contract list,
“We have had discussions with Pandya, who has been told to play domestic white-ball tournaments when he is available. At this stage, according to the assessment of the BCCI’s medical team, he is not in a position to bowl in red-ball tournaments. So playing Ranji Trophy is out of the equation for Pandya. But he has to play other white-ball tournaments if there are no India commitments. If not, he will miss out on a contract.”
Due to this reason Pandya got a narrow escape and retained his place in the central contract.
Now after recovering from the injury, he is back in the domestic circuit where he was seen playing for Reliance One side in a local tournament and grabbed 2 wickets in 3 overs by giving away 22 runs. Also his fitness is being monitored by the National Cricket Academy (NCA), to make sure that he will not get any fitness related issue again.
