RCB’s Heartbreak at DC’s Hands by 25 runs

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) first loss in this WPL as Delhi Capitals (DC) registered their 2nd victory of the tournament. Delhi won the match by 25 runs. 

Bangalore won back to back 2 matches and their last victory came against GG where they crushed them by 8 wickets. Whereas Delhi tasted their first victory in their last match where they just dethrow UPW by 9 wickets.

In this match, Royals after winning the toss opted to bowl first.

Capitals Shafali Verma (50 runs) continued her brilliant form and hit back to back half-century. She looked destructive from the beginning and hit 3 fours and 4 sixes in her knock. She was well supported by Alice Capsey (46 runs), as they both put together 82 runs for the 2nd wicket. 

In the end, Marizanne Kapp (32 runs) and Jess Jonassen (36 runs not out) showed no mercy to the bowlers in the death overs. Due to their blasting knocks Capitals scored 194 runs in 20 overs by losing 5 wickets. 

Sophie Devine and Nadine de Klerk got 2 wickets each. Shreyanka Patil got 1 wicket. 

Since the target was very high, skipper Smriti Mandhana (74 runs) played a full blasting knock. She took 43 balls and hit 10 fours and 3 sixes. Only Sophie Devine (23 runs) and Sabbhineni Meghana (36 runs) supported their captain a little bit. 

After the departure of the first 3 batters, the team suddenly collapsed and lost wickets at regular intervals. Due to which they scored 129 runs in 20 overs by losing 9 wickets. 

Jess Jonassen in this department took the full attention as she grabbed 3 wickets by giving away only 21 runs in her 4 overs. Marizanne Kapp and Arundhati Reddy both got 2 wickets each. Shikha Pandey got 1 wicket.
