Pakistan secures 1st victory in 2024 T20 World Cup

Finally after two back to back losses Pakistan got their first win in this tournament, defeating Canada by 7 wickets. 

Canada scored 106/7 in 20 overs and in reply Pakistan scored 107/3 in 17.3 overs. 

Pakistan in their last encounter lost against India in the last moments while Canada shocked Ireland and opened their World Cup winning account. 

Babar Azam, after winning the toss, opted to bowl first. 

Canadian opener Aaron Johnson was the only batter who showed bravery against the Green Army bowlers. He single handedly scored in the top order. He made 52 runs in 44 balls and hit 4 fours and 4 sixes. Except him, none of the other top order batters touched the double digit.  

Towards the end, Kaleem Sana (13 runs not out) and skipper Saad Bin Zafar (10 runs) got the double digit mark and took the team score to above 100. 

Mohammad Amir and Haris Rauf both got 2 wickets each. Amir looked more disciplined with his line and length and he only conceded 13 runs in his 4 overs. Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah got 1 wicket each.  

In the chase, Men in Green lost Saim Ayub (6 runs) early on. But then Mohammad Rizwan and Babar put up a great show for the team as both of them added 63 runs for the 2nd wicket. Rizwan got unbeaten on 53 runs in 52 balls and hit 2 fours and a six. 

Babar got 33 runs in 33 balls and hit one four and a six. 

Dillon Heyliger got 2 wickets while Jeremy Gordon got 1 wicket.
