Shubman Gill (31 runs) in his first match as a captain of Gujarat gave a good start to the team. Sai Sudharsan (45 runs) was the team’s highest scorer in this match. In the end, Rahul Tewatia (22 runs) with his couple of boundaries took the team score to 160 par and as a result the team ended up on 168 runs in 20 overs by losing 6 wickets.
Jasprit Bumrah the man in form continued his brilliant form and in this match grabbed 3 wickets and only gave 14 runs in his 4 overs. Gerald Coetzee in his first match got 2 wickets. Piyush Chawla ended with 1 wicket.
Mumbai in their first over lost Ishan Kishan who departed without scoring any runs. Suddenly they lost their 2nd wicket in just 30 runs. But then Rohit Sharma (43 runs) and Dewald Brevis (46 runs) put 77 runs for the 3rd wicket and took the pressure off the team.
But after both of them departed the remaining players were unable to stand against the bowlers and went to pavilion one after the other. In the end the team finally ended up on 162 runs in 20 overs by losing 9 wickets.
In the last over 19 runs were needed and Hardik Pandya hit a six and a four in the first two deliveries and then Umesh Yadav defended the total and also got 2 wickets in the next 4 balls.
Remaining bowlers Azmatullah Omarzai, Mohit Sharma and Spencer Johnson got 2 wickets each. R Sai Kishore got 1 wicket.
