Match 16: DC vs KKR | Full Analysis | Pitch Report | Best 11

The 16th match of the tournament between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC). The match between them will start at 7:30 P.M. (IST).

Teams Analysis:

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR):

They are the only team after RR who is unbeaten in this season. The whole team is performing collectively due to which the result came for their favour. If one player fails to perform then the other one makes things comfortable. In their last encounter, they showed a pure dominating performance against RCB where they deceived them by 7 wickets.

Looking at their batting line-up, each and every batter till now has shown promising batting performance. Starting with their opener Phil Salt who had a miserable season when playing for DC last year but now he is currently the team’s most runs scorer with 84 runs under his credit. On the other hand, Sunil Narine who loved to bat against RCB again proved his love as he scored super fast 47 runs in just 22 balls. He didn’t like to take too much bat and start hitting from the very first ball and is highly aggressive in the powerplay. With the bowl also he showed little magic as he took 2 wickets till now.

Venkatesh Iyer scored a brilliant half-century against Bengaluru in the last match and showed his perfect class. Skipper Shreyas Iyer also got rhythm back in the last match as he delivered unbeaten 39 runs and was looking forward to delivering more with the same intensity.

But team’s beast Andre Russell has shown power in both the departments. First with the bat he got unbeaten 64 runs against SRH in just 25 balls and with the bowl he has 4 wickets till now. A nightmare to the bowlers especially in the death overs.

The team’s bowling line-up also seems to be stable. Harshit Rana is in the contention for purple cap as he got 5 wickets in 2 matches. Just a small thing he needs to take into consideration is the economy, which is 9. Mitchell Starc, the highest paid player in the history of IPL has given 100 runs in his 8 overs and has an economy of 12.5. The stats of Starc definitely hurting Knight Riders and he needs to show his spark for which he is known for.

Probable playing 11 for the match:

Shreyas Iyer ©, Phil Salt (wk), Sunil Narine, Venkatesh Iyer, Ramandeep Singh, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Mitchell Starc, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakravarthy, Anukul Roy.

(Impact Player: Suyash Sharma)

Delhi Capitals (DC):

After getting two back to back defeats, they secured their first victory in this IPL. Their first victory came against CSK, when they stopped rampage Chennai by 20 runs. The whole team looked superb in their last match and they are getting better match by match.

David Warner after missing his half-century in the first two matches, finally makes it into the last match. He has got 130 runs with the bat till now. Along with him his other partner Prithvi Shaw who didn’t play the first two matches, get the chance and makes it in his favour after scoring 43 runs in 27 balls. He might again prove to be dangerous to play in the same pitch.

Mitchell Marsh is yet to deliver an impactful knock. He got some solid starts but was unable to take that much further. Skipper Rishabh Pant got his form back after registering his first half-century after 1.5 years approx. He was highly waiting for this moment and he got it at last.

Khaleel Ahmed has performed well in the past two matches which ultimately helped the team in the last match. His economical spells and wicket taking ability makes him dangerous in the death overs. He has taken 5 wickets till now in the tournament. Kuldeep Yadav unable to play the last match due to slight niggle but might be available in this match. He provides the team wicket whenever the team requires.

Axar Patel has an economy of 6 in this IPL so far and has taken 2 wickets. He can also show some destruction with the bat and in last season he was the 2nd highest scorer from the team.
