As it was expected that India might consider a new addition to their coaching staff and now they declared Sitanshu Kotak as their new batting coach. He will join the team ahead of the England series which will start on January 22nd.
Kotak already delivered his coaching to the senior team during the Ireland series which was headed by VVS Laxman. In that series also he was the team’s batting coach. Also he was with India’s A team during several occasions. Not only this he is currently the batting coach at the NCA since 2019.
His addition will be valuable to the team ahead of the Champions Trophy as the Men In Blue batters struggled a lot during the New Zealand and Australia series.
India will start their ICC tournament journey against Bangladesh on February 20. They are placed in Group A along with Pakistan, New Zealand and Bangladesh.
The addition to the coaching staff was highly speculated during the BCCI’s meeting that took place last weekend. It is also said that it was Gautam Gambhir’s decision to add Kotak to the coaching staff. In the team, Morne Morkel is the bowling coach, while Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate are the assistant coaches.
This decision might be helpful for Abhishek Nayar as he is considered as the batting coach of the team. These two carries huge experience in the domestic circuit, which will be beneficial for the team.
