Teams Analysis

India (IND):

The inaugural T20 World Cup champion will face their first match of the tournament. They are having one of the strongest units in this tournament and might be able to clinch their 2nd title. They have a balanced line up and anyone from the squad can perform to their best. Currently they are the number 1 team in the ICC T20 World Ranking and this already depicts how brilliant they are as a team.

One of the very few players who played all the T20 World Cup matches from the start. Skipper Rohit Sharma has associated with the team from the 2007 edition and is now leading the team here. It will be his 2nd season of this short format as a captain, earlier he was also leading the team in the 2022 edition. He is well known for his hard hitting skills from the starting and has a strike rate of 139.97. He scored 5 international centuries till now and scored 3974 runs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal might open for the team along with the skipper as the left and right combination has mostly worked for India in past two decades. Though he played only 17 T20 matches, in the recent few matches he impressed the team with his batting and had a strike rate of 161.93 in which one century was included.

Virat Kohli, the pillar of the team has shown consistency in all the formats and was the leading scorer from the team in the last edition. He was already two times (2014 and 2016) Player of the series in the T20 World Cup. Currently he was the highest scorer in the IPL where he scored more than 700 runs, which shows how hunger is still there for him to score runs. He has an average of 51.75 and scored 4037 runs for the team.

Then the middle order responsibility goes to Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant. Yadav is currently the number 1 T20 batter with 861 points. He can be so aggressive that it can be easily predicted from his strike rate which is 171.55 and scored 4 centuries till now. On the other hand, Pant who joined the squad after more than one and a half years scored a brilliant fifty in the warm-up match against Bangladesh. His performance in the recent past was brilliant and helped to get rid of the team from difficulties from quite a long time.

Hardik Pandya will play the finishing role as he is capable of going hard in the death overs. Not only this he will be a great asset to the team in the pace department. He has a strike rate of 139.83 and has taken 73 wickets till now. Ravindra Jadeja will also assist him in lower down the order and has the capacity to hit big in the death overs. He has been India’s greatest all-rounder in recent times and has taken 53 wickets till now with an economy of 7.10.

The pace department will be led by Jasprit Bumrah who will be assisted by Arshdeep Singh. Bumrah has been a mere death to the batters out there, as it was very hard to pick easily. He has taken 74 wickets with the economy being 6.55. Arshdeep has 62 wickets to his name and is a death overs specialist as his slow ones provide damage to the batters. Kuldeep Yadav might be seen in the spin department and his performance from the past one year has been exceptionally good.

In the last season, they proceeded to the Super 12 stage but failed to proceed further. Now they will again put their hardest side.

The most experienced player in the squad, skipper Paul Stirling has played 142 matches and scored 3589 runs. He has been the team’s pillar behind the success. Though he has provided runs with the bat but in the last 7 innings he didn’t score a 50+ knock. He has one century and 14 half-centuries to his name. He has played several T20 leagues all around the world which helped him to settle down in any part of the world easily.

Lorcan Tucker has played 71 matches and scored 1295 runs in which he got 9 half-centuries. In the last five matches that he played, scored two 50+ knocks.

Harry Tector  has managed five half-centuries till now with a strike rate of 121.06. He is known for providing stability to the team when the team is in danger. But in the recent few matches he has failed to score many runs with the bat.

Curtis Campher, George Dockrell and Gareth Delany got the all-rounder role and all of these contributed well in both the departments. Campher has scored 826 runs and taken 29 wickets whereas Dockrell has scored 1085 runs and taken 85 wickets and Delany scored 1016 runs and taken 44 wickets till now. All of them known for providing hard hitting in the death overs.

The pace department will be charged by Mark Adair who has taken 119 wickets till now. Not only this he can sometimes add valuable runs for the team in lower down the order and has contributed 661 runs till now. Josh Little and Craig Young will assist him in the pace department.

Pitch Report for the match between India (IND) and Ireland (IRE):

The match will be played at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York. The pitch acts as slow as the match progresses. In the match also between Sri Lanka and South Africa, a low scoring match was seen. Once again it is expected that bowlers will shine in this pitch and may get swing and spin from both the sides. Therefore batting first must be the choice after winning the toss.

Weather Report:

The weather is expected to be a little cloudy with a 20% chance of rain. But despite this, the full match to be played is expected. The highest temperature might be around 25o  while the lowest might be around 19o. Humidity will be close to 80%.
