India created history in the World Cup

A pure domination shown by the Indian team as they defeated Sri Lanka by a huge margin of 302 runs. After this win, it was their largest margin of victory in the World Cup.  

India scored 357/8 in 50 overs and in reply Sri Lanka just only managed 55/10 in 19.4 overs.

Sri Lanka after winning the toss opted to bowl first. 

Shubman Gill (92 runs) after a couple of low scoring matches, finally getting his rhythm back but misses his century by just 8 runs. He made a brilliant partnership of 189 runs with Virat Kohli (88 runs) who also missed his century. Both of them faced problems in the early overs but after settling down they were much more comfortable in playing shots all over the ground.

Gill hit 11 fours and 2 sixes in his innings while Kohli hit 11 fours in his knock. In the end Shreyas Iyer (82 runs) got his form back and played a destructive knock. He hit 3 fours and 6 sixes in his innings. Also Ravindra Jadeja (35 runs) showed some good hands with the bat and took the team total to 357 runs in 50 overs by losing 8 wickets. 

Dilshan Madushanka took 5 wickets while Dushmantha Chameera got 1 wicket

During the chase, Lankans were nowhere in the winning phase. Five of them (Pathum Nissanka, Dimuth Karunaratne, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Dushan Hemantha and Dushmantha Chameera) got out on a duck. Kasun Rajitha (14 runs) was the highest scorer from the team and as a result Lanka registered their lowest total in the World Cup after making 55 runs in 19.4 overs by losing all their wickets. 

All the bowlers were lethal with their line and length. No space for runs was given easily. Mohammad Shami  again showed his class and got 5 wickets. Mohammad Siraj also got his line and length back by grabbing 3 wickets. Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja got 1 wicket each.
