Grace Harris showed a destructive batting approach due to which Uttar Pradesh Warriorz (UPW) got their 2nd victory of the season. They beat Gujarat Giants (GG) by 6 wickets and reached the 3rd spot in the points table.
Now Warriorz won back to back two matches, their first victory was in their last match where they defeated the defending champion MI by 7 wickets. On the other hand, Gujarat is still searching for their first victory in this WPL. They lost 3 in 3 matches. Their last defeat came against RCB where they lost the match by 8 wickets.
In this match, Warriorz after winning the toss opted to bowl first.
Giants against struggling with their batting lineup. They were unable to score much in the powerplay. In the first 10 overs, they were scoring runs of approx 6 per over.
Then Phoebe Litchfield (35 runs) and Ashleigh Gardner (30 runs) provided 52 runs together for the 5th wicket. With their contribution, the team somehow managed 142 runs in 20 overs by losing 5 wickets.
In the bowling department, UP’s Sophie Ecclestone once again showed her experience and grabbed 3 important wickets. Rajeshwari Gayakwad got 1 wicket.
In the chase, Gujarat skipper Alyssa Healy (33 runs) got the team a blasting start. Later on it was well carried by Grace Harris (60 runs not out), who played 33 balls and hit 9 fours and 2 sixes. She was well supported by Deepti Sharma (17 runs not out) again and both of them got the victory runs for their team.
They scored 143 runs in 15.4 overs by losing 4 wickets.
Tanuja Kanwar got 2 wickets while Meghna Singh and Kathryn Bryce got 1 wicket each.
