India’s wicket-keeper batsman Dhruv Jurel has been getting huge lots of appreciation from all around the globe, due to his spectacular batting performance in the 4th Test against England.
In the first innings India of the 4th test where he scored a brilliant 90 runs and then in the second innings of India he scored unbeaten 39 runs and took his team to the series winning match. His patience helped the team a lot in both the innings.
When Dhruv scored a half-century in the first inning, Sunil Gavaskar who was present in the commentary box compared him with the most successful Indian wicket-keeper MS Dhoni. He said,
“Of course he (Dhruv Jurel) has batted well, but his keeping, his work behind the stumps has been equally brilliant. Just by looking at his game awareness, I want to say that he is another MS Dhoni in the making. I know there can never be another MSD but you know the presence of mind that he has, MSD also when he started, it was that. And Dhruv has that game awareness. Street-smart cricketer.”
To this India’s 2003 World Cup finalist skipper, Sourav Ganguly, does not seem to have a rematch, the thinking with the veteran Indian opener. According to him, Dhruv has a great talent but it needs time to be the best keeper as Dhoni also took at least 15-20 years to reach that best tagline. He said,
“Dhruv Jurel… what a Test match he had under pressure on a difficult wicket. There is huge talent and if you miss you and you go back down in the ladder, it will be very hard to come back. MS Dhoni is in a different league. Jurel has talent; there's no doubt about it. But it took MS Dhoni 20 years to be MS Dhoni. Rather 15 years for Dhoni to be Dhoni. So let him [Dhruv] play. Dhruv's ability to play spin, pace and most importantly to perform under pressure. That's what you look for in a youngster.”
The home team has already won the series by 3-1 and there is only one match remaining which is going to start on 7th March at Dharamsala.
