Nat Sciver-Brunt brilliant performance in both the departments helped Mumbai Indians (MI) to get their 4th victory in this season. They defeated Uttar Pradesh Warriorz (UPW) by 42 runs.
Earlier when both the teams met against each other, Warriorz showed a full dominating performance as they beat Mumbai by 7 wickets. Now the revenge has been taken.
After winning the toss, Mumbai skipper Harmanpreet Kaur opted to bat first.
Mumbai lost their both openers in just 17 runs. Then the captain Harmanpreet (33 runs) and Nat (45 runs) built a partnership of 59 runs for the 3rd wicket.
Amelia Kerr (39 runs) showed a full blasting batting performance in just 23 balls, followed by S Sanjana (22 runs not out) in the death overs due to which the team managed to post 160 runs in 20 overs by losing 6 wickets.
Chamari Athapaththu got 2 wickets for Warriorz whereas Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Deepti Sharma and Saima Thakor got 1 wicket each.
During the chase, Warriorz batting performance was not up to the mark from the start except Deepti Sharma (53 runs not out). She single handedly fought against the bowlers. She played 36 balls in which she hit 6 fours and 2 sixes.
She didn’t get any support from the other end due to which the team only managed 118 runs in 20 overs by losing 9 wickets.
Bowling department of Mumbai was excellent. Saika Ishaque topped the chart with 3 wickets followed by Nat’s 2 wickets. Shabnim Ismail, Hayley Matthews, Pooja Vastrakar and S Sanjana got 1 wicket each.
With this victory, Indians are now 2nd in the points table with 8 points in 6 matches. Whereas Warriorz are in the 4th spot with 4 points.
