Australia dismantles Scotland’s bravehearts

Australia damaged the dreams of Scotland by beating them by 5 wickets. The Scottish players put their full efforts to win this match but unfortunately they didn’t touch the line. With this England went to the Super 8 round. 

Both the teams registered victories in their respective last matches. Oman was easily thrashed by Scotland whereas Aussies got a rampage victory against Namibia.

Scotland scored 180/5 in 20 overs and in reply Australia chased down the target in 19.4 overs and scored 186/5. 

Aussies skipper Mitchell Marsh after winning the toss, chooses to bowl first. 

A good partnership was maintained between George Munsey and Brandon McMullen who got 89 runs for the 2nd wicket. Munsey scored 35 runs whereas McMullen looked aggressive as he scored 60 runs in 34 balls. MuMullen hit 2 fours and 6 sixes in his knick and has a strike rate of 176.47.   

Then skipper Richie Berrington contributed brilliant 42 runs towards the end in 31 balls and took the team to 180.

Glenn Maxwell got 2 wickets while Ashton Agar, Nathan Ellis and Adam Zampa got 1 wicket each. 

In the chase, Aussies looked on the backfoot when they lost 3 wickets in just 60 runs. But from there Travis Head and Marcus Stoinis made a partnership of 80 runs for the 4th wicket and stabilized the team.

Head scored 68 runs in 49 balls while Stoinis set the destructive mode on and scored super blazing 59 runs in 29 balls. Then towards the end, Tim David finished off the things well for the team and scored unbeaten 24 runs in 14 balls.

Mark Watt and Safyaan Sharif got 2 wickets each while Brad Wheal got 1 wicket.
