Afghanistan made their place in the final of the Asian Games after defeating Pakistan by 4 wickets. They will be seen against India for the gold medal.
Pakistan scored 115/10 in 18 overs which Afghanistan chased down in 17.5 overs and made 116/6.
Earlier India made their place into the finals after defeating Bangladesh by 9 wickets.
Afghanistan after winning the toss invited Pakistan to bat first.
Pak was highly poor with the bat. They were unable to build any long partnerships. The highest scorer from the team was opener Omair Yousuf (24 runs). He played 19 balls and hit 2 boundaries and a six. But he was unable to convert his inning into a big one.
Some small contributions were given by Rohail Nazir (10 runs), Arafat Minhas (13 runs) and Aamer Jamal (14 runs) which ultimately took their team to 115 runs in 18 overs and lost all their wickets.
Afghans performed a great bowling show. Fareed Ahmed got the most wickets in this match by taking 3 wickets at an expense of only 15 runs in his three overs. Qais Ahmed and Zahir Khan grabbed 2 wickets each. Qais was highly economical as he spent only 11 runs in his three overs. Gulbadin Naib and Karim Janat took 1 wicket each.
During the chase at one point of time Afghans were struggling as they lost 3 wickets in just 35 runs. Noor Ali Zadran (39 runs) took his team out from the danger and provided a solid knock. He hit 4 fours and 2 sixes in his knock but couldn’t finish off the work as got out in the 12th over.
In the end skipper Gulbadin Naib (26 runs) played a captaining innings which ultimately took his team to the finals. He hit 1 four and 3 sixes in his innings. They scored 116 runs in 17.5 overs and lost 6 wickets.
Bowlers of Pakistan tried to clinch the win but they were unfortunate in the death overs. Arafat Minhas and Usman Qadir took 2 wickets each. Qasim Akram and Sufiyan Muqeem got 1 wicket each.
Now Pakistan will meet Bangladesh for the Bronze medal.
